Trampoline Removal in Auckland & Hamilton

Some trampolines we have removed

Getting rid of an old trampoline can be quite a headache. An old rusty one, no longer in use, or taking up far too much space in your yard-the disposal of a trampoline is much more complicated than just throwing it into the bin. Trampolines are large and bulky, and often they can be very troublesome to take apart. Here at BinBuddy, our trampoline removal services take the hassle off your shoulders by covering everything from disassembly to removal.

Why Removing a Trampoline is More Difficult Than You Think

The Disassembly Challenge

Trampolines are an elaborate contraption comprising springs, a metal frame, safety nets, and a large jump mat. Disassembling them is time-consuming and requires much care not to damage the parts or injure oneself in the process.

Large and cumbersome to transport

once removed, the metal frame and springs of such mattresses are bulky to handle and carry around. Most skip bins also wouldn't accept items of this size and bulk.

Rust and wear

Over time, trampolines have a tendency to rust, making the process of disassembling them a bit more complicated. Rusted screws and frames will be difficult to remove; hence, special equipment or even professional help may be required.

Common Injuries from Disassembling a Trampoline

Disassembling of a trampoline without experience and proper tools is dangerous. The following are some of the common injuries sustained in the process.

Back Strain

Heavy metal frames or jump mats are often lifted and moved which often cause back injuries if lifted improperly.

Cuts and Lacerations

Springs and metal-made components, if they snap back during disassembling, may cause cuts or pinching unless tackled with care.

Eye Injuries

Tensioned springs may let loose all of a sudden and pose danger to your eyes in case proper protective gear is not put on.

Muscle Strain

You may have to use a lot of force in disassembling a trampoline, especially when the screws or the frame is rusted. This might cause strained muscles in your arms, shoulders, or back.

How to Safely Dispose of a Trampoline – Step-by-Step Guide

Disassemble the Trampoline:

Start by removing the safety net (if applicable). Use a wrench to detach the poles that hold the net. Next, remove the jumping mat. Carefully unhook each spring, working your way around the frame. Be cautious as the springs are under tension and can snap back. Finally, disassemble the metal frame. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws and bolts holding the frame together. If the frame is rusted, you may need a lubricant like WD-40 to loosen the screws.

Separate the Materials for Recycling:

The metal frame can be taken to a scrap metal recycling facility. The jump mat and springs may not be accepted at all recycling centers, so check with local facilities to see if they handle trampoline parts.

Transport the Parts:

Once disassembled, you’ll need to transport the parts to either a recycling center or disposal facility. Be aware that the frame and springs are heavy and may not fit in standard vehicle trunks.

Skip Bins Compared to Professional Removal

Most skip bins have bulky item restrictions that include trampolines, so it may be difficult or hard to get rid of one via a skip bin. Here are some common limitations one has when using skip bins:

Size Restrictions

Even when dismantled, trampolines may not fit into an average skip bin, particularly if the frame size is big.

Extra Charges

Some firms could charge for bulky items or make you hire a bigger bin, increasing the cost.

What Our Customers Say

FAQ’s

Common Questions

Do I Need To Take My Rubbish Bags To You?
Absolutely not 🙂 We come to you to collect your rubbish bags from just $5 per bag.  That includes us coming out to you and collecting your bag from your doorstep.

Do I need To Sort My Waste?
Absolutely not.  We do ask that you keep your general house waste separate from your garden waste because these go to different places.  General House Waste goes to the same place that the council takes your wheelie bin waste to, however, your garden waste goes to a special recycling place.  In order for your garden waste to be recycled, it has to be kept separate to your general house waste.  We can take any mixed waste to the council dropoff however, we can never specifically mix Grass Clippings and solid wood bits with general house waste.
How Do I Pay You?
We either take payments via our website or you can request to make a manual bank transfer. Your payment details are not kept by us when you purchase via our website but rather via our bank, keeping you safe.
Do you take waste that cannot fit into a Rubbish Bag?
We can take general furniture items such as mattresses, Tables, Small couches, renovation waste and more.  It is more difficult to put a standard price on these because of weight and also space that it takes up on our vehicles.  We are open to custom arrangements though, so if you have a special pickup or even need to transport something larger within hamilton then feel free to reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can I Pre-Purchase for future collections?
Absolutely! If you would like to have, say 2 rubbish bags collected each week for the next 4 weeks, then just simply pre-Purchase 8 bags and contact us specifying how you would like collections to take place. We will contact you via email as soon as you pre-purchase confirming your purchase, just simply reply to that email with your collection preference.
